2019 The Humanity Collective Charitable Trust

Our Vision

Provide and maintain a healthy habitat for wildlife and people

We will work alongside The Lake House Trust to carry out environmental remediation, by reinvigorating and maintaining the surrounding grounds and gardens.

More specifically we will:

  • rejuvenate and plant new gardens in keeping with the style of the Lake House;

  • attract an abundance of wildlife by planting NZ natives and providing worm farms, beehives, composting, fertiliser, bug hotels, bird baths and feeders; and

  • install a play area for both children and adults, more seating, and create sensory gardens.

In these initiatives, we aim to include easy access for people with less mobility, including boardwalks and solar-powered lighting.

Shared economy initiatives

We also aim to:

  • include a bike hub and EV charging;

  • Run community gardening initiatives in partnership with community gardens in our region. This includes sharing fruit, vegetables, seeds and plants, as well as providing The Lake House cafe with fresh produce.

Sustainable living markets and events

We will run a variety of markets and events promoting a fresh, diverse and complementary mix of products, goods and experiences, including:

  • crafts,

  • locally grown produce focusing on vegetarian and vegan lifestyles,

  • cultural and musical performances,

  • pre-loved goods,

  • suitcase stalls for start-ups, including start-ups created by inspiring children,

  • picnics, and

  • concerts.

Education and inspiring events

We will run sustainable living events including:

  • inspiring talks,

  • workshops,

  • courses, and swap meets.

We will work with industry partners, such as building companies, solar power suppliers, recycling companies and electric vehicle companies to showcase innovative products and services.

The motivation

We believe that the Takapuna/Devonport region can lead the sustainability charge in New Zealand. A space like this could significantly contribute towards us becoming a world-renowned progressive community.

We want The Humanity Collective to be a space full of hope, positivity, inclusiveness and great vibes - a place focused on doing good.
